"He Almost Got Me": Valdez and Wilson on the Fight

On March 29th at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, USA, the tournament's main event was a fight for the WBO "interim" super featherweight title (up to 58.96 kg) between Mexican Oscar Valdez (32-2, 24 KOs) and Australian Liam Wilson (13-3, 7 KOs). The bout concluded with Valdez winning by technical knockout in the 7th round.

Post-fight, the fighters shared their emotions. Valdez acknowledged his opponent's strength: "A couple of times, he almost got me. He's got a punch.

I want to be an example. In boxing, you can lose. In life, you can lose. But you have to come back strong."

Wilson, though disappointed, also praised his opponent, calling him a champion: "That's how it goes in boxing. I tried to box in the first few rounds, but my warrior's heart overcame me. I need to learn from this. That's how it is.

Oscar is a great champion, and it's an honor for me to share the ring with him. I'm 28 years old, this was my 16th fight, and I still have a lot to offer."

Earlier, WBC super featherweight champion O'Shaquie Foster (22-2, 12 KOs) congratulated Oscar Valdez on his victory and hinted at a potential fight.
