Shakur Stevenson vs. Floyd Schofield Canceled: Reason Revealed

The WBC lightweight (61.2 kg) title fight between Shakur Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) and Floyd Schofield (18-0, 12 KOs) has been called off. On Friday night, the British Boxing Board of Control officially canceled the bout due to Schofield’s illness.

Now, an urgent replacement is being sought for Stevenson. According to Ring Magazine sources, two names are in consideration: 29-year-old Moussa Gholam (22-1, 13 KOs) and 29-year-old Josh Padley (15-0, 4 KOs).

The Stevenson-Schofield fight was initially scheduled for February 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, marking Shakur’s first bout since signing with Matchroom Boxing.
