Roy Jones: "If Fury Lost Hunger, Usyk Will Beat Him"

In an interview with Boxing Scene, former four-division champion Roy Jones Jr. shared his expectations for the bout between WBC champion Tyson Fury (34-0-1, 24 KOs) and the holder of the WBO, WBA, IBO, and IBF titles Oleksandr Usyk (21-0, 14 KOs).

"I like both of them. I think it's a tough fight to call, it's hard to determine a winner. If Fury truly lost his previous hunger, if he shows up as he did in the fight with Francis Ngannou, then Usyk will beat him. But if he's still hungry, then 'a good big fighter beats a good little fighter.'

Usyk isn't exactly small for Fury. If you're explosive, it doesn't matter the size of your opponent. Explosiveness will clear any path. Usyk is good. Usyk is strong. But he doesn't have that explosiveness.

I don't think he (Tyson Fury) intentionally got the cut to pull out of this fight. Nobody plans things like cuts. The thing is, you can't predict everything. This is sport. There's always drama here. I understand Team Usyk's frustration. But let's be honest. Who has Fury ever avoided? Right! No one, ever. So why would he start now?"

Recently, Roy Jones Jr. said that Benavidez and Crawford would beat Canelo.

The fight for the undisputed heavyweight championship (over 90,7 kg) between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk is scheduled for May 18th in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
