Loma-Gervonta Won't Happen in 2024

The manager of IBF and IBO lightweight champion (up to 61.2 kg) Vasyl Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs), Egis Klimas, has revealed that the fight between his client and WBA titleholder Gervonta Davis (30-0, 28 KOs) will not take place before the end of the year.

"Loma is not in the mood right now; he has no motivation. He is taking a break and wants to spend more time with his family. He doesn't want to do anything until the end of the year. So, he definitely won't be in the ring until the end of the year.

Although the fight with Davis is very lucrative, Loma is not only motivated by money. He doesn't fight just for money. You can offer him millions, tens of millions of dollars – if he has no motivation, he is not ready to prepare for a fight.

Retirement? Lomachenko has not retired," said Klimas.

It’s worth noting that Top Rank founder and head Bob Arum had stated that the fight between his client and Gervonta could take place in November 2024, with Lomachenko coming to the US to discuss the details of the bout.

In June, Gervonta Davis defended his title and handed Frank Martin (18-1, 12 KOs) his first career loss by knocking him out in the 8th round. In May, Vasyl Lomachenko defeated George Kambosos (21-3, 10 KOs) by technical knockout in the 11th round to become the IBF and IBO champion.
