The founder and head of the promotional company Top Rank, Bob Arum, shared that he met with Egis Klimas, the manager of Ukrainian IBF lightweight champion (up to 61.2 kg) Vasyl Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs).
Arum mentioned that the meeting took place in Southern California on July 4th, and he was informed that the 36-year-old Lomachenko will arrive in the US to discuss a bout against WBA champion Gervonta Davis (30-0, 28 KOs).
The promoter also dismissed the remarks of Davis' trainer, Kenny Ellis, as "bullshit," who had urged Lomachenko to step aside and allow Gervonta to fight WBC champion Shakur Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs).
On the night of June 16th, Gervonta Davis knocked out Frank Martin (18-1, 12 KOs) in the 8th round to defend his title. In May, Vasyl Lomachenko stopped George Kambosos (21-3, 10 KOs) via technical knockout in the 11th round to capture the vacant IBF title.
Although the fight is not yet confirmed, experts have already speculated on the potential outcome of the Lomachenko-Davis bout. From knockout to equal chances - told here.
