Matchroom Boxing CEO Eddie Hearn, who represents American IBF welterweight champion Jaron "Boots" Ennis (32-0, 29 KOs), has shared that his client might face Ukrainian boxer Serhii Bohachuk (24-2, 23 KOs) in the near future.
"There's a possibility of an Ennis vs. Bohachuk fight. I spoke with Jaron earlier tonight. We were discussing our next steps. We likely have 48 hours to make a final decision," Hearn said.
Previously, it was reported that the International Boxing Federation (IBF) had scheduled a purse bid for a mandatory bout between Ennis and his mandatory challenger Karen Chukhadzhian (24-2, 13 KOs). However, Ennis may choose to vacate the title and move up to a higher weight class.
On July 13, Jaron Ennis secured a TKO victory over David Avanesyan (30-5-1, 18 KOs). On August 10, Serhii Bohachuk lost by majority decision to Vergil Ortiz Jr. (22-0, 21 KOs).
