Purse Bid Set for Ennis vs. Chukhadzhian

The International Boxing Federation (IBF) has officially scheduled a purse bid for the championship bout between American Jaron Ennis (32-0, 29 KOs), the reigning welterweight champion (up to 66.68 kg), and Ukrainian Ready to Fight ambassador Karen Chukhadzhian (24-2, 13 KOs).

The purse bid is set to take place on September 3.

Previously, Ennis' promoter Eddie Hearn mentioned that the IBF had mandated his fighter to defend the title, but he noted that this is not the fight he wanted to make. Hearn had hoped to organize a bout between Ennis and WBO champion Brian Norman Jr. As a result, Ennis' team may request a postponement of the fight, but such a delay would need to be agreed upon by Chukhadzhian’s side.

Jaron and Karen have already faced each other in January 2023, where Ennis won by unanimous decision.
