British promoter and head of Matchroom Boxing, Eddie Hearn, shared his opinion on what he considers the best fight in boxing right now. According to him, it’s the bout between former two-division undisputed champion Terence Crawford and current IBF welterweight champion (up to 66.68 kg) Jaron Ennis.
"Terence Crawford versus Jaron Ennis is undoubtedly the best fight in boxing," Hearn said.
It’s worth noting that the 27-year-old Ennis recently signed a contract with Matchroom Boxing. His first fight under this contract will be against David Avanesyan. Details about the chances of victory for both boxers and the main statistics of the fight can be found here.
Crawford’s next fight is set for July 3, where he will debut in the super welterweight division (up to 69.85 kg) against Israil Madrimov.
Previously, Ennis and Crawford had a chance to meet – Jaron was a contender for the IBF title held by Terence. However, Crawford refused to defend it due to his obligation to have a rematch with Errol Spence. The rematch didn’t take place, but the IBF stripped Crawford of the title and appointed Ennis as the champion.
Later, Terence claimed that Jaron twice avoided meeting him. Ennis addressed whether this was true in previous comments.
