Roberto Duran Hospitalized Due to Heart Issues

The family of 72-year-old Panamanian champion Roberto Duran, who triumphed in four weight categories, reported on Saturday, March 16, that he had been receiving medical attention for heart-related issues.

"Roberto experienced health complications due to atrioventricular block. We are awaiting the results to provide more information about his health condition.

We thank our relatives, friends, and all his fans who are praying for him," stated Duran's family on his Instagram account.

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman announced that Duran is being treated in a hospital in his native Panama.

"The world joins his family in prayers for his successful and swift recovery. He's a champion and will win this fight," Sulaiman wrote on Twitter.

Roberto was the world champion in the lightweight (WBA, WBC), welterweight (WBC), light middleweight (WBA), and middleweight (WBC) categories, considered one of the greatest lightweights in boxing history. Duran's record stands at 103-16, with 70 KOs.
