Dana White: "You'll Know Who the Five Most Dangerous Heavyweights Are"

UFC President Dana White has revealed new details about the boxing promotion he will lead in partnership with Turki Alalshikh and TKO Group Holdings.

According to White, the new promotion will not cooperate with traditional sanctioning bodies like WBA, WBC, WBO, or IBF. Instead, each weight class will have only one champion, eliminating the four-belt system currently in place.

White emphasized that the league will follow the UFC model, with a clear ranking system and mandatory title defenses. He also explained how the promotion will establish the top fighters in each division.

"There will only be one belt. It’s going to be like UFC. We're using the same model as the UFC. WBC, IBF, WBA, and the others will continue working with the traditional promoters. We won’t be part of that.

We’re going to have the core weight classes—where boxing started. And there will be one champion.

And you’ll know who the champion is, because they’ll have climbed to the top by going through real competition. And when they make it to the top five, you’ll know exactly who the five most dangerous guys in the heavyweight division are.

Then, you'll see who becomes champion. And they’ll have to defend their belts. That’s how it’s going to work.

I’m sure the WBC, WBA, and all the others will continue to exist. They just won’t be working with us," White stated.

Recently, WBC President Mauricio Suleiman voiced support for the new league, while Matchroom Boxing CEO Eddie Hearn commented on whether he sees TKO Boxing as a threat.
