American WBA, WBO, WBC welterweight champion (up to 66.68 kg) Terence Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) may get a new opponent. It could be 30-year-old Briton Josh Kelly (15-1-1, 8 KOs), who is the number one in the WBO rankings at super welterweight (up to 69.85 kg), as reported by IFL TV citing WBO.
On the night of March 31, Sebastian Fundora became the unified WBO and WBC super welterweight champion after defeating Tim Tszyu. Following this, the WBO ordered the teams of Fundora and Crawford to start negotiations for a fight – Terence plans to change weight classes and immediately fight for a belt.
However, it has been revealed that Sebastian will be unable to box for 6 months due to an injury sustained in the fight with Tszyu. Now, Crawford and Kelly could potentially fight for the title. The WBO will announce their final decision later.
