Buddy McGirt, the trainer of British heavyweight boxer Dillian Whyte (30-3, 20 KOs), commented on the amusing video in which WBO "interim" champion Joseph Parker (35-3, 23 KOs) called out Dillian for a rematch.
"Yeah, I saw the video—it's very funny. I think it would be a very good fight for boxing. I won't lie, I didn't see their first fight. But listen, I love Mr. Parker and feel nothing but great respect for him. I consider him a damn good fighter. Ever since I first met him when he was just a kid, I thought he was special. But my guy Dillian will do his job," said McGirt.
Dillian Whyte and Joseph Parker first faced each other in July 2018. Joseph was knocked down in the 2nd and 9th rounds, and Dillian in the 12th. The bout ended with Whyte winning by unanimous decision.
The last time Parker entered the ring was on March 8 against Zhang Zhilei (26-2-1, 21 KOs)—he won by split decision and became the WBO "interim" champion.
On March 17, Dillian Whyte made a triumphant return against Christian Hammer (27-11, 17 KOs). After three rounds, his opponent declined to continue the fight. RTD 3.
