Promoter: Wardley Could Get Title Shot Within 12 Months

Queensberry Promotions head Frank Warren has revealed the timeline in which British heavyweight Fabio Wardley could fight for a full world title — provided he wins his next bout against Jarrell Miller. That fight, set for June 7, will have the WBA interim title on the line.

If Wardley wins, he’ll be in line for a championship fight within 12 months. He won’t just sit around — he’ll probably have another one or two fights — but the title bout will come within a year.

Jarrell Miller is a huge step up, and that needs to be acknowledged, especially with what’s at stake. Yes, it’s an interim belt — and I know some fans don’t place much value on those — but interim titles put you in a position that sanctioning bodies simply can’t ignore.

This is a major step for Fabio. This fight will show what he’s really made of,” Warren said.

Wardley and Miller are scheduled to square off on June 7 in the UK. Miller has already faced disciplinary action following his conduct during the initial face-off with Wardley.
