Queensberry Promotions head Frank Warren says the ongoing buzz around Martin Bakole, particularly in connection to a potential bout with Moses Itauma, makes little sense to him.
“I don’t know why you keep bringing up Bakole — I really don’t get it. He was rubbish in his last fight. I think he was lucky to get a draw, and in the fight before that, he was knocked out in the first round.
Maybe I’m missing something, maybe you know more than I do.
Last time out, he looked bad. That’s not the kind of fight Moses Itauma needs. Bakole’s behind us now.
In fact, about a week ago I got a message from Billy Nelson (Bakole’s trainer — ed.), saying they don’t want to fight until December, even if it can be made sooner.
He said in an interview they have a big fight lined up for the summer.
So let Bakole go and get his big fight. Let him rebuild. Because in this one, there would only be one winner.
He’ll go the same way others did — he’s too slow, he’s too heavy.
If Bakole hits you, you should be arrested… for doing nothing,” Warren said.
