Founder and head of Queensberry Promotions Frank Warren shared fresh details on former world champion Tyson Fury’s plans.
According to Warren, his fighter is targeting a third bout with unified WBA, WBC, WBO & IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk—though he will not step into the ring this year.
“I spoke with him this weekend about boxing. He won’t be fighting this year. He’s filming season two of his Netflix show right now, but he’s still training in the gym. That’s crucial for his physical and mental well‑being—training keeps him sharp.
That’s his mentality: he’s always in the gym and needs activity. He’s made it very clear he wants Usyk. He had tough fights with Deontay Wilder. Then came the bout I felt he wasn’t ready for—against Francis Ngannou—and after that two grueling wars with Usyk.
In most fights he controlled the situation, but the years add up. Knowing him, he’ll want to come back straight into a top‑level fight,” Warren told the 5 Live Boxing podcast.
In 2024 Tyson Fury (34‑2‑1, 24 KOs) lost twice to Oleksandr Usyk (23‑0, 14 KOs) and announced his retirement. Recently, however, Fury called out the Ukrainian for a fight on 18 April 2026 at Wembley Stadium in London, United Kingdom.
