Usyk’s Promoter Confirms IBF Title Vacancy

The day before, undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) announced his decision to leave the IBF title vacant.

Usyk’s promoter and CBDO of Ready To Fight, Alexander Krassyuk, also confirmed this decision.

"Did Usyk vacate the IBF title? Yes," Krassyuk told Tribuna.com.

Usyk's manager, Egis Klimas, responded to insider Dan Rafael’s claim that Usyk had no choice as it was a condition of the fight contract with Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) and the winner had to vacate the title.

"This is not true, it was not in the contract. Usyk did it because he wanted to," Klimas wrote on Twitter.

Recall, Oleksandr Usyk decided to vacate the IBF title for a fight between Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) and the "interim" IBF champion Daniel Dubois (21-2, 20 KOs), which will be announced on June 26.

According to preliminary information, the Joshua-Dubois fight will take place on September 21 at Wembley Stadium in London, UK.
