Turki: «I’m Very Angry About IBF’s Decision on Canelo»

Saudi Arabian sports event organizer Turki Al-Sheikh reacted to the International Boxing Federation’s (IBF) decision to appoint a mandatory challenger for undisputed super middleweight champion (up to 76.2 kg) Saul Alvarez.

«I hope no one will stand in our way to make this show (Canelo vs. Crawford). Neither promoters nor organizations. Because in the end, if we want it – we’ll make it happen. And we have the power to do it.

I’m very angry. Do you hear me? Very angry and I don’t understand why the IBF appointed a challenger for Canelo so quickly. This isn’t the first time they’ve done this to us. They did the same with Hrgovic. And we don’t understand it, especially from the IBF.

I hope they understand this message. Because we don’t want fighters to be without belts. Our goal now is to make the Canelo vs. Crawford fight. But I don’t want to think about it right now because I’m focused on Saturday’s greatest fight of the century (Usyk vs. Fury),» said Al-Sheikh.

Crawford’s next fight will take place on August 3 against Israil Madrimov in a new weight category for Terence.
