IBF Appoints Mandatory Challenger for Canelo

The International Boxing Federation (IBF) has appointed a challenger for Mexican undisputed super middleweight champion (up to 76.2 kg) Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs) to defend his IBF title, AGON reports.

Canelo’s opponent is set to be Cuban boxer William Scull (22-0, 9 KOs). The fighters have four weeks to negotiate. If the parties fail to reach an agreement, a purse bid will be announced.

Canelo last fought on May 4 against fellow countryman Jaime Munguia (43-1, 34 KOs) and won by unanimous decision. William Scull fought on the same card against Shawn Hemphill (16-2, 10 KOs) and also won by unanimous decision.
