In the night of July 14th in Philadelphia, USA, Jaron Ennis (32-0, 29 KOs) scored a stoppage victory over David Avanesyan (30-5-1, 18 KOs) and defended his IBF welterweight title (up to 66.68 kg) for the first time in his career. After the bout, Ennis named WBA, WBC, and WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) as his desired opponent.
Eddie Hearn, head of Matchroom Boxing, commented on his client's victory and expressed his intent to organize unification fights for Jaron.
"The future of Jaron Ennis is the future of boxing. I think he will beat everyone. He is a special fighter who needs to be tested in fights against the best in the world. He is here for the long haul. The plan is to unify titles. Then he will move up to junior middleweight. At some point, this will be inevitable," said Hearn.
The head of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia, Turki Alalshikh, indicated that he is ready to organize a fight between Ennis and Crawford.
"I just congratulated Jaron Ennis and Eddie Hearn on the victory, and I would like to see Ennis fight Crawford in the junior middleweight division (up to 69.9 kg)," Turki tweeted.
On August 3rd, Terence Crawford will face Israil Madrimov (10-0-1, 7 KOs).
The bout will have Madrimov's WBA title and the interim WBO junior middleweight title on the line.
