Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia, Turki Alalshikh, commented on his remarks about former undisputed super middleweight champion (up to 76.2 kg) Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs), accusing Canelo of seeking only easy fights.
"I didn't start this conversation. Canelo did. He stated that he respects me but doesn't like what we're doing in boxing. So, I responded as I did and stand by my words. If Canelo is smart, he will understand my words. If his ego outweighs, let him do what he thinks is right.
I want to add one more thing. I don't know in what tone Canelo communicates with promoters. If he is disrespectful to any of them, that’s their business, not mine. He responded to me, and he got a response back," said Turki.
Canelo explained his refusal to fight Terence Crawford by saying that he is focused on his bout with Edgar Berlanga (22-0, 17 KOs), which will take place on September 14 in Las Vegas, USA. Meanwhile, Turki Alalshikh has found a new opponent for Crawford.
