Teofimo Explains Why He Chose This Opponent

WBO junior welterweight champion (up to 63.5 kg) Teofimo Lopez (20-1, 13 KOs) commented on his upcoming fight against Steve Claggett (38-7, 26 KOs).

«I’ve always wanted to fight in South Florida, where I grew up and developed as a fighter. I never thought it would happen, but now, on June 29, I get the chance to do it not just as a world champion, but as the lineal champion in my division.

It was one of my goals after turning professional, and I’m motivated to showcase my talent in front of my fans from Honduras and the entire Latin American community.

This is like a Rocky Balboa story for Steve Claggett. I’m very curious to see what style he brings. There were no other fighters who wanted to face me, and I felt that he would provide an amazing fight not just for me, but for the fans as well,» said Teofimo.

Earlier, it was announced that Teofimo would face Claggett on June 29 in Miami, USA.
