Suleiman Calls Joshua "Number One Contender"

World Boxing Council (WBC) President and Ready To Fight advisor Mauricio Suleiman has labeled former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (28-3, 25 KOs) as the "number one contender."

"Joshua is in an excellent commercial position following his stunning victory over Ngannou.

He is now a very important boxer in the heavyweight division.

Anthony is the number one contender, he is in an excellent position. So, let's see what happens," said Suleiman to DAZN.

Currently, Joshua is at the top spot in the WBC heavyweight ranking. The champion is Tyson Fury, who will defend his title against Oleksandr Usyk on May 18. The British boxer is also a contender for the winner of the Dubois vs. Hrgovic match, which might happen on June 1, though this fight is yet to be confirmed.

Anthony's promoter Eddie Hearn is confident – his athlete's next fight will be for a title.
