Joshua's Next Fight Could Be for a Title

Eddie Hearn, the head of Matchroom Boxing, in a comment to IFL TV, mentioned that Anthony Joshua's (28-3, 25 KOs) next fight could be for a title, potentially even for the undisputed heavyweight championship.

- Can you tell us what's happening with Joshua? We see he's in the gym. What are the talks about his immediate future?

- I think you'll see him back in the ring at the end of the summer. He's keen to fight again as soon as possible.

- Is that going to be August?

- Possibly. May 18th is the Fury vs. Usyk fight, and we're very keen to see how that ends. There's also the situation with the IBF and Filip Hrgovic. We'll see what happens if he fights during that period.

But I think Joshua's next fight will either be for a world heavyweight belt or for the undisputed world heavyweight title in this division.

- So, it apparently depends on the IBF situation?

- The winner of Fury vs. Usyk has to fight Hrgovic. I don't know if Filip will fight Anthony first or someone else, but AJ's next fight will be for a world heavyweight belt or possibly even for the undisputed title, Hearn said.

On May 18th, Usyk and Fury will determine the first undisputed heavyweight champion since 1999. Also, Filip Hrgovic and Daniel Dubois are set to fight for the IBF mandatory challenger status on June 1st, although this fight is not yet confirmed.

Anthony Joshua is among the contenders for a fight against Hrgovic and a potential opponent for the winner of Usyk vs. Fury.
