WBC lightweight champion Shakur Stevenson (23-0, 11 KOs) shared his thoughts on his TKO victory over Britain’s Josh Padley (15-1, 4 KOs) and made it clear he’s ready for a mega fight.
"I feel good. I put on a strong performance. Boxing has levels to it. This fight wasn’t easy because of his movement—he countered well and landed some good shots. But like I said, there are levels to this sport.
I respect him for stepping up, showing heart, and taking the fight against me on short notice. But now, I want to fight Gervonta Davis. I believe that’s the biggest fight in boxing right now. So let’s make it happen." Stevenson said in an interview with DAZN Boxing.
Stevenson made these comments in his post-fight interview with DAZN Boxing after stopping Padley in the 9th round on February 22. It was Padley’s first career defeat—he had accepted the fight on just four days’ notice. For Stevenson, this was his first stoppage win since 2023, when he debuted at lightweight.
