Ukrainian junior middleweight boxer Serhii Bohachuk (24-2, 23 KOs) has shared his reaction to the canceled bout against Uzbekistan’s Israil Madrimov (10-1-1, 7 KOs).
Previously, Turki Alalshikh, head of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority, officially confirmed that the Bohachuk–Madrimov fight was called off due to Madrimov suffering from acute bronchitis.
“I was tagged in a post on Instagram, checked BoxRec, and saw that the opponent had been changed. I then called Tom Loeffler, who confirmed it. So, I don’t know the exact details of what happened with Madrimov, but my new opponent is Ishmael Davis.
Now I’m watching his fights. He’s a decent boxer, but not quite like Madrimov. Can I adapt? Yes, I can. We’ve had a long training camp with plenty of sparring against various partners—southpaws, orthodox fighters, tall guys, shorter ones. By the way, I’ve already noticed that Davis is a more stationary fighter, while Madrimov is more mobile.
But honestly, I’m not surprised by such changes; boxing is big business. However, I’m in excellent shape. Give me any boxer right now, and I’ll destroy them all,” Bohachuk stated.
On December 21, Serhii Bohachuk will face Britain’s Ishmael Davis (13-1, 6 KOs). Israil Madrimov is scheduled to fight interim WBC champion Vergil Ortiz (22-0, 21 KOs) on February 22.
