Sauerland Suggests British Fighter as Canelo's Opponent

Promoter Kalle Sauerland believes that middleweight (up to 72,6 kg) British boxer Chris Eubank Jr. (33-3, 24 KOs) would be a more profitable opponent for the undisputed super middleweight (up to 76,2 kg) champion Mexican Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) than Jaime Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs).

"Undoubtedly, Eubank, looking at it realistically, would be a great opponent for Canelo.

But I also think it's a commercially interesting fight for Canelo because Alvarez would obviously open up the UK market with an opponent like Eubank.

When we heard about the possible fight with Munguia, we immediately got in touch with the team, but it was already too late," Sauerland said.

The fight between Canelo and Munguia is scheduled for May 4 in Las Vegas, USA. It was previously reported that Eubank Jr. has become a free agent – no longer under contract with any promoter.
