37-year-old former four-division world champion Roman Gonzalez (52-4, 42 KOs) had his first fight since 2022 against Robert Barrera (27-6, 17 KOs).
The 10-round bout was nearing its end, but Gonzalez aimed for a stoppage victory. After a series of attacks from the Nicaraguan and no resistance from his opponent, the referee stopped the fight. TKO 10.
Roman Gonzalez's previous fight was in December 2022 for the vacant WBC super flyweight (up to 52.2 kg) title, where he lost by majority decision to Juan Francisco Estrada (44-4, 28 KOs).
Gonzalez won the WBA minimumweight (up to 47.6 kg) championship in 2008, the WBA light flyweight (up to 48.98 kg) in 2011, the WBC and The Ring flyweight (up to 50.8 kg) in 2014, and the WBC super flyweight in 2016.
