According to sources from The Ring, the undisputed super middleweight champion (up to 76.2 kg) Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) will defend his status against the WBC middleweight champion (72.5 kg) Jermall Charlo (33-0, 22 KOs) on May 4th in Las Vegas.
In September 2023, Jermall's brother, Jermell Charlo (35-2-1, 19 KOs), lost to Canelo by unanimous decision in what was the first-ever fight between two undisputed world champions.
This was the last time Alvarez entered the ring. Meanwhile, Jermall Charlo, on November 25, 2023, won by decision against Jose Benavidez (28-3-1, 19 KOs). This was Jermall's first fight since his victory over Juan Montiel (23-6-2, 23 KOs) during the defense of his WBC middleweight title on June 19, 2021.
