Rick Glaser: “Gervonta is retiring — he won’t fight anymore”

Agent and insider Rick Glaser reports that WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis is preparing to retire. According to Glaser, the American has informed those close to him that he doesn’t intend to step into the ring again, with burnout from the boxing life believed to be the likely reason.

From several very reliable sources: Baltimore’s best fighter, ‘Tank’ Davis, is retiring — he’s telling those around him he’s not going to fight anymore.

Apparently Tank is tired of boxing. He’s retired — until the money runs out,” Glaser wrote.

As of publication, Davis has not officially commented on his future.

Gervonta Davis (30‑0‑1, 28 KOs) last fought in March, boxing to a draw with Lamont Roach. A rematch is planned, though not yet officially announced; recent chatter points to August 23 or August 30 in Las Vegas, USA.

Initially PBC targeted August 16, but that date became unlikely even before Davis was arrested again on domestic‑violence charges. It has also emerged that the 30‑year‑old stopped training in Miami roughly three weeks before the arrest.
