Newly crowned IBF junior welterweight champion Richardson Hitchins (19-0, 7 KOs) reflected on his victory over former champion Liam Paro (25-1, 15 KOs) and voiced his desire to face another divisional champion, Teofimo Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs), the current WBO titleholder.
“Controversial scorecard? I think this is what they call a full-circle moment. How ironic is that? Everyone thought the scoring in my last fight was crazy. So how ironic is this?
I want to fight Teofimo Lopez in New York. That’s a big fight for 2025. I shouldn’t be stepping into the ring with anyone but the best,” Hitchins declared.
To recap, on the night of December 8, Richardson Hitchins defeated Liam Paro via split decision to claim the IBF world title. The judges scored the bout 117-111 for Paro and 116-112 twice for Hitchins.
Earlier, Teofimo Lopez named three champions he wants to face in the future.
