Oscar on Fatal Fury Fighters: “Turki Pulls Out the Wallet, and We Get This?”

Golden Boy Promotions head Oscar De La Hoya took aim at the participants of the Fatal Fury boxing tournaments, which recently took place in New York and Saudi Arabia. The events featured stars like Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, Devin Haney, and others — but Oscar wasn’t impressed.

I’m in the Bahamas right now, interrupted my vacation because I just had to speak up — I watched 11 fights without a single knockout. Seriously.

Let’s give credit where it’s due — Rolly, congratulations. You stepped in, fought, and earned a solid win. I’m happy for you, really. You’re a good guy.

Teofimo — the only one who really tried to entertain the fans. And honestly, I feel sorry for Turki. The man’s putting up insane money, paying fighters to go out and give fans what they deserve — real fights.

And what do we get? Some ritual dancing from Bill and Devin Haney. My God, Ramirez landed a few shots and what does Devin do? He hops on his bike and runs like the house is on fire. Jesus… that’s it. He’s done.

And Canelo… come on. You’re getting paid ridiculous money to fight a runner — a guy known for that classic Cuban style — and you picked him! Now you say you hate fighting movers? Don’t be scared of movers. We all know who we want you to face — Benavidez. Step up. He won’t run. What’s the problem? That’s a real fight.

But it’s just sad. It all starts at the top. Turki pulls out the wallet, pays everyone, and at best, we get mid-level fights. The least we can do is show up and actually fight.

Anyway, that’s my little rant of frustration. I’m just disappointed.

But hey, we’ve got Crawford vs. Canelo coming. I’m looking forward to it, even if they’re both pushing 40. It’s an interesting matchup. Just get in the ring — and fight,” said De La Hoya.

Earlier, Bill Haney had trolled De La Hoya after all of Oscar’s fighters lost at the New York event.
