Mbilli on His Next Move: "Everyone Knows Who’s Number 1"

French WBC Continental Americas and WBA International super middleweight champion (up to 76.2 kg) Christian Mbilli (28-0, 23 KOs) shared his thoughts after his victory over Ukraine’s Sergiy Derevyanchenko (15-6, 10 KOs) and hinted that he is aiming for a showdown with former undisputed super middleweight champion Saúl Álvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs).

"I'm ready for big fights now. I want to become a world champion. I’m confident that I’ll be the best. To achieve that, I need to beat the best. And the strongest right now... I don’t want to name names, but everyone knows who’s number one. I want my shot at number one," Mbilli stated.

To recap, on the night of August 18 in Quebec, Canada, Christian Mbilli defeated Sergiy Derevyanchenko by unanimous decision in the main event. In the 4th round, the Ukrainian suffered a left bicep injury, leaving him to fight almost the entire remainder of the bout using only his right hand.

Mexican star Saúl Álvarez is scheduled to face Puerto Rican Edgar Berlanga (22-0, 17 KOs) on September 14.
