Matchroom Boxing CEO Frank Smith has said he would like to organize a fight between influencer–boxer Jake Paul and promoter Eddie Hearn, following Paul’s upcoming bout with former unified Heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua.
– AJ has achieved everything in the sport. He’s a two-time unified champion, he’s faced the very best — including Oleksandr Usyk twice. I think even my hypothetical fight with Jake Paul would be more competitive than Jake Paul vs. Anthony Joshua.
I genuinely want to make a comeback fight for Jake: Eddie Hearn vs. Jake Paul. Wouldn’t that be a massive event?
– Does Eddie even have any experience — amateur fights or sparring?
– As far as I know, he had two or three fights when he was younger. He fought under the name Eddie Hills, not Eddie Hearn.
– Seriously? Wow. Before you met him?
– Yes, it was when he was a kid. I think he was 17 or 18. That’s exactly the fight I want to make next.
The bout between Jake Paul (12-1, 7 KOs) and Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) is scheduled for December 19 in Miami, USA.
