Josh Dubin, one of the managers of WBC lightweight (up to 61.2 kg) world champion Shakur Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs), has spoken about a potential fight against WBA titleholder Gervonta Davis (30-0, 28 KOs).
"It's all up to Tank. One thing you can say about Shakur – he will beat anyone you put in front of him. We're here, waiting, and ready to negotiate.
We will find out how realistic Gervonta and PBC's interest is and how financially lucrative their offer will be for Shakur. They know Shakur's fight had the highest ratings on ESPN this year, so they need to do the right thing.
This is a fight that Shakur truly wants. He's been begging for this fight for a long time. Let me make it clear – Shakur wants to unify the titles in the lightweight division. So, fights with champions make sense," said Dubin.
It was previously reported that Gervonta's next opponent would be IBF champion Vasyl Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs), but the Ukrainian decided not to fight until 2025.
On the night of July 7, Shakur Stevenson won a unanimous decision over Artem Harutyunyan (12-2, 7 KOs). In June, Gervonta Davis delivered the first defeat of Frank Martin's (18-1, 12 KOs) career with an eighth-round knockout.
