Lopez vs. Haney Off – Insider Report

According to insider Mike Coppinger of The Ring, negotiations for the highly anticipated bout between WBO super lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez (22-1, 13 KOs) and welterweight contender Devin Haney (32-0, 15 KOs) have fallen apart.

The fight was scheduled to take place on August 16 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Just a day earlier, Haney took to social media claiming that he had already signed his portion of the contract, but accused Lopez of backing out:

The fight with Teo isn’t signed! I signed my part, and Teo kept stalling. As of today, he’s decided he doesn’t want to fight me — officially the biggest ducker in boxing,” wrote Haney.

Both fighters appeared on the same card on May 2, with Haney defeating Jose Ramirez and Lopez outpointing Arnold Barboza, each by unanimous decision.
