IBO Continental light heavyweight titleholder (up to 79.4 kg) and Ready to Fight ambassador Daniel Lapin (10-0, 4 KOs) shared his thoughts on IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) defeating Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs). The Ukrainian boxer also mentioned when he would return to the ring.
"My first reaction to Dubois' victory? Unexpected. I thought it would go the other way. I was sure Joshua would win, but, as I always say, no one cancels out a strong punch. You might have zero technique, zero boxing skills, but if you've got a strong punch, that changes everything. Dubois clipped him in the first round, and the whole fight changed.
Is Dubois now a serious threat? In my opinion, God willing, Oleksandr (Usyk) will beat Fury in his next fight and face Dubois. And that will be just as easy a fight for him as it was in Poland.
Have I experienced such an atmosphere before? Actually, for the first time. I've attended six major boxing events, but this one, wow," he said, wiping imaginary sweat from his forehead.
As for future plans? My next fight is scheduled for December 21. I hope they'll find me a solid opponent. It'll be a defense of my WBA Continental title. I hope my WBA ranking goes up, and, God willing, I'll aim higher and higher. I think in two more years, I'll be ready to challenge for a world title."
In May, Daniel Lapin knocked out Octavio Pudivitr (9-2, 4 KOs) in the first round.
To recap, on September 21 at Wembley Stadium in London, UK, Daniel Dubois scored a stoppage win over Anthony Joshua, with knockdowns in the 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 5th rounds. After the final knockdown, Joshua couldn't get back up by the end of the count. KO in the 5th.
