Former undisputed lightweight champion George Kambosos (22-3, 10 KOs) has revealed who he considers the most difficult opponent he’s faced in the ring—and it's a tough call between two elite names.
"It’s really hard to say. Haney and Lomachenko are both tough for my style. Haney is slicker, has longer arms. Lomachenko brings high volume, movement—he makes you think constantly.
They’re very close, almost equal. Both were extremely difficult opponents. It’s tough to rank one over the other.
Even though Lopez beat Lomachenko, I believe he fought a compromised Loma, dealing with injuries.
Lopez is very athletic and strong, but for my style, he ranks third among the three.
So for me, first and second—Haney and Lomachenko—that’s just a matter of personal preference. They’re equally tough," said Kambosos.
In 2022, Kambosos suffered back-to-back unanimous decision losses to Devin Haney, and in 2024, he was stopped in the 11th round by Vasiliy Lomachenko.
Kambosos recently also commented on a potential rematch with Teofimo Lopez, whom he famously defeated in 2021 to become the undisputed lightweight champion.
