Former lightweight champion George Kambosos (21-3, 10 KOs) has reacted to the news of the canceled bout between WBC lightweight titleholder Shakur Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) and William Zepeda (32-0, 27 KOs).
Kambosos proposed a fight with the American in the super lightweight division.
“Come to Australia in February and face me. Vacate your belt, let Zepeda be champion on paper, and meet me at super lightweight. You know who to contact. I'm here," Kambosos wrote on Twitter.
Shakur Stevenson didn’t hold back in his response.
“Blah, blah, blah. Let’s fight, coward. Come on, loser! Who do we talk to about negotiations?” Stevenson replied.
In July, Shakur Stevenson defeated Artem Harutyunyan (12-2, 7 KOs) via unanimous decision. Stevenson was scheduled to face Joe Cordina (17-1, 9 KOs) on October 12, but the fight was canceled due to a hand injury.
In May, George Kambosos suffered a technical knockout loss to Vasyl Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs) in the 11th round. This was the Australian’s third defeat in his last four bouts.
Recently, Kambosos signed with Matchroom Boxing and announced his move to a new weight division.
