Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn has clarified reports that former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua is negotiating a three-fight agreement with Turki Alalshikh and Riyadh Season.
“That’s not true — we’re discussing a two-fight deal with Riyadh Season. We’re working on it. Turki Alalshikh mentioned it during Canelo’s fight night [vs. William Scull on May 3], when we met. That’s the plan. We want AJ back in the ring later this year — in October, November, or December.
Let’s see how Usyk vs. Dubois II ends. Let’s see what happens with Fury. If we’re not fighting them next, we’ll take someone else, and maybe meet one of them in 2026.
Dillian Whyte and Jared Anderson were both mentioned, but nothing is concrete,” Hearn explained.
Earlier reports had suggested that the deal included two bouts with Tyson Fury, with Whyte or Anderson as potential third opponents. All bouts are expected to take place in Saudi Arabia.
It was also recently confirmed that Joshua underwent successful elbow surgery and is targeting a comeback in fall 2025.
The 35-year-old Brit was last seen in the ring in September, where he was knocked out by Daniel Dubois in the fifth round of their IBF heavyweight title clash.
