Parker Begins Training for Next Fight: Who Could Be the Opponent

WBO interim Heavyweight champion Joseph Parker has arrived in Dublin, Ireland, to begin his training camp, reports The Ring.

An official announcement of the New Zealander’s next fight is expected soon. However, according to the outlet, the opponent will not be undisputed Heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Earlier, Spencer Brown, Parker’s manager, stated that the next opponent could be Daniel Dubois, Fabio Wardley, or Dereck Chisora.

Parker is the mandatory challenger for Oleksandr Usyk (24-0, 15 KOs). The organization ordered the Ukrainian champion to defend his title, but he requested the WBO grant him more time for negotiations due to a back injury. The sanctioning body has now demanded updated medical results by September 1.

Joseph Parker (36-3, 24 KOs) last fought in February against Martin Bakole, winning by second-round TKO. At that time, the opponent was originally supposed to be Daniel Dubois, but he withdrew due to illness.
