WBO interim Heavyweight champion Joseph Parker could face WBA interim champion Fabio Wardley later this year, reports BoxingScene.
The New Zealander is considering a fight before the end of 2025, with Wardley seen as the leading candidate.
Earlier, Spencer Brown, Parker’s manager, mentioned that the next opponent could be Daniel Dubois, Fabio Wardley, or Dereck Chisora.
Joseph Parker (36-3, 24 KOs) last fought in February against Martin Bakole, winning by second-round TKO. At that time, the opponent was originally supposed to be Daniel Dubois, who withdrew due to illness.
Parker is the mandatory challenger for Oleksandr Usyk’s title. The organization ordered the Ukrainian champion to make a defense, but Usyk requested that the WBO grant more time for negotiations.
Fabio Wardley (19-0-1, 18 KOs) scored a 10th-round knockout over Justis Huni in June, despite trailing on the scorecards. At the time of the stoppage, the judges had it 88-83 and twice 89-82 in Huni’s favor.
