Jaron Ennis agrees to fight Vergil Ortiz – Hearn

Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn told iFL TV that Jaron Ennis has agreed to face interim WBC Super Welterweight champion Vergil Ortiz.

The bout is being targeted for January in Las Vegas, USA, as part of a joint event between Matchroom Boxing and Golden Boy Promotions. Golden Boy chief Oscar De La Hoya previously stated that an Ennis–Ortiz clash is “inevitable.”

In April, Jaron Ennis (34-0, 30 KOs) claimed the WBA and IBF Welterweight titles by defeating Eimantas Stanionis when the Lithuanian’s corner stopped the fight. He later vacated the belts to move up in weight.

Vergil Ortiz (23-0, 21 KOs) last fought in February, earning a unanimous decision over Israil Madrimov.
