“This fight is inevitable” – Oscar De La Hoya on Jaron Ennis vs. Vergil Ortiz

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya believes a showdown between rising welterweight stars Jaron “Boots” Ennis and Vergil Ortiz Jr. is not a matter of if, but when.

“Listen, this fight is inevitable — the matchup between Ennis and Vergil Ortiz is definitely happening. I can’t wait!

I think Ennis is an incredible boxer-puncher — he has great ring IQ, and he’s confident. He’s a star.

But when Vergil Ortiz is standing right in front of you — there’s nowhere to hide. That’s why I’m really looking forward to this fight. It’s going to happen soon, and I can’t wait to see it,” De La Hoya said live on DAZN.

Other potential opponents for Ortiz (23-0, 21 KOs) include former world champion Keith Thurman (31-1, 23 KOs).
