Paul vs Davis Fight in Jeopardy — Former Opponent May Step In

The exhibition bout between heavyweight influencer-boxer Jake Paul and WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis, scheduled for November 14 in Miami, USA, is now on the verge of collapse amid new legal trouble surrounding Davis.

What Happened

The 30-year-old American is accused of violent assault and kidnapping of his former girlfriend, Courtney Rossel, at her workplace.

The lawsuit alleges strangulation, threats, and physical abuse.

Davis is charged with:

Unlawful detention

Kidnapping

Intentional infliction of emotional distress

According to Rossel, on October 27, Davis stormed into the Tootsies men’s club in Miami, where she was working as a waitress, and attacked her in the VIP section.

It is alleged he grabbed her, choked her, dragged her down stairs and out a back exit, then assaulted her in the parking garage, striking her in the back of the head while she screamed for help.

Rossel also claims that on September 23 at Playa Miami, Davis choked her and publicly accused her of cheating — later sending her the message: “I will kill you.”

The lawsuit highlights Davis’ long history of violent behavior, citing multiple prior arrests related to assault and domestic abuse since 2017, including cases in 2020, 2022, and July 2025.

The document states Davis has a “pattern of violence against women,” made even more dangerous by his physical power as a professional boxer.

Rossel is reportedly suffering from PTSD, anxiety, and severe fear, undergoing therapy and currently living with others for safety.

Her lawyers are demanding compensatory and punitive damages, calling Davis’ actions “shocking and intentional.”

The suit requests a jury trial.

Paul’s Team Is Considering Three Options — Including a Replacement

Jake Paul’s promotional company Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) is evaluating the situation.

According to BoxingScene, the following scenarios are being discussed:

– Replace Davis with another opponent two weeks before the fight

– Postpone the event

– Netflix may consider canceling the fight entirely due to reputational risk

Insider Julius Julianis reports that Paul’s team has already reached out with offers to Ryan Garcia, Anthony Joshua, Edgar Berlanga, Terence Crawford and Floyd Mayweather. A replacement fight with one of these names could take place either on November 14 or at a later date.
