A new civil lawsuit has been filed against WBA lightweight champion Gervonta Davis, accusing him of violently assaulting and kidnapping his former girlfriend, Courtney Rossel, at her workplace. The filing details alleged choking, threats, and repeated physical abuse.

The lawsuit was submitted in Miami-Dade County, USA, by attorneys Richard Wolfe and Jeff Chukwuma. It includes accusations of battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

According to Rossel, on the morning of October 27, Davis forced his way into Tootsies, a gentlemen’s club in Miami where she worked as a waitress, and attacked her in a VIP area. The complaint states Davis grabbed Rossel by the neck, dragged her down a staircase through the kitchen and out a back exit, then beat her in a parking garage, striking her in the back of the head as she screamed for help.

Rossel says she and Davis had been dating for about five months, during which she was subjected to repeated physical attacks and threats of murder. She claims Davis choked her multiple times, threatened to kill her, and assaulted her both in private and in public.

She also recounts an incident from September 23 in Playa Miami, where Davis allegedly choked her while accusing her of cheating, later sending her a written message saying: “I will kill you.”

The lawsuit cites what the attorneys describe as Davis’ “long history of violent behavior,” referencing multiple prior arrests related to assault and domestic violence dating back to 2017, including cases in 2020, 2022, and July 2025. It argues that Davis’ profession as a boxer makes such attacks especially dangerous due to his physical power and training.

Rossel reportedly now suffers from PTSD, anxiety, and severe fear, is undergoing therapy, and lives with others because she no longer feels safe being alone.

Her lawyers are seeking compensatory and punitive damages, stating Davis’ behavior was “shocking and intentional.” They are also demanding a jury trial.
