29-year-old Mexican Jaime Munguia has withdrawn from a proposed bout against Osleys Iglesias for the vacant IBF super middleweight title, which became available after Terence Crawford announced his retirement from boxing.

Munguia was next in line for the opportunity after former undisputed world champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez declined the IBF’s offer. Canelo informed the organization that he is still recovering from elbow surgery undergone in October and would not be ready in time for the fight.

In May, Jaime Munguia (45-2, 35 KOs) avenged his loss to Bruno Surace, winning a unanimous decision. After the fight, it emerged that the Mexican had failed a doping test, but he was later cleared. It was previously reported that Munguia could return to the ring in April.

In September, Osleys Iglesias (14-0, 13 KOs) stopped Vladimir Shishkin by technical knockout in the 8th round.
