According to journalist and insider Fernando Sabatini, Mexican fighter Jaime Munguia could return to the ring in the spring of 2026. April is being mentioned as a likely month for his comeback.
Earlier, after his victory in a rematch against Bruno Surace, the super middleweight representative was involved in a doping scandal. His test showed an adverse analytical finding of exogenous origin for testosterone metabolites. Subsequently, Munguia managed to prove that the positive result was caused by contamination from a legal substance.
“I was told that the Mexican’s return was planned for January, but the date was moved, and he might return to fighting in April. Given Terence Crawford’s departure, perhaps they will try to secure the right to an eliminator,” Sabatini wrote.
Previously, Osleys Iglesias’s promoter stated that they are waiting for a response from Munguia. It is possible that Jaime will become the Cuban's opponent in the fight for the vacant world championship title.
