WBO champion Teofimo Lopez (21-1, 13 KOs) in the lightweight division has directly challenged WBC interim champion Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs), promising a showdown.
“We will still have a fight after Ryan beats you again. I’ll deal with him, and then I’ll finish you for good,” Teofimo wrote.
“Jemaine Ortiz beat you, even that guy Steve shook you up. Shut the hell up, damn it,” Devin Haney responded.
Teofimo Lopez confirmed his plans to face Jaron Ennis:
“And still the champion! Now you’re moving to lightweight, at least we’re going after Ennis. Who are you fighting? José Ramírez?”
Devin Haney recalled the champion’s refusal to face Subriel Matías:
“Why the f*ck didn’t Teo fight Matías?”
Teofimo Lopez responded in detail:
“Because Top Rank wanted to hold the fight on the West Coast when it was supposed to be in New York, forced the fight onto PPV, and finally offered $2.8 million when I’m their last remaining star. Now they’re going to make a new star out of Caysha. Inshallah, now I can fight you!”
Devin Haney is confident Lopez won’t agree to fight him:
“You’re going to get it. As soon as I beat Ramírez and Ryan, you’ll be next. But you know you’re just a hype.”
Earlier, Turki Alalshikh stated that he is ready to arrange a fight between Teofimo and Ennis.
