Hearn Reacts to Potential Collapse of Agreement with Canelo

Insider Salvador Rodriguez reported that the potential fight between the undisputed super middleweight champion (up to 76,2 kg) Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) and the Mexican Jaime Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs) will take place as part of a show from Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) by Al Haymon on the streaming platform Amazon Prime.

Previously, Canelo and PBC ended their contract. Preliminary information suggested that the undisputed champion was to join Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing on the DAZN platform.

In a comment to FightHype.com, promoter Eddie Hearn reacted to this news.

"I think it's not official yet, right? Let's see. Apparently, Canelo is staying with PBC; they have a contract for 3 fights, correct? I only know that Munguia is a DAZN fighter. Not sure how Golden Boy will react to this. Let's see what comes out of it," Hearn said.

It was recently revealed that Canelo and Munguia are close to signing a contract. The fight is planned for May 4th in Las Vegas.

In their previous fight in September of last year, Canelo unanimously defeated Jermell Charlo (35-2-1, 19 KOs) by judges' decision, and Munguia in January won by technical knockout against John Ryder (32-7, 18 KOs).
