In an interview with iFL TV, Eddie Hearn, head of Matchroom Boxing, commented on the successful appeal to the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) and the UK Anti-Doping Agency (UKAD) regarding the doping case of British welterweight (up to 66.7 kg) Connor Benn (23-0, 14 KOs). The promoter confirmed the official stance of the company.
"It's about confidentiality, which is why you haven't seen any comments from BBBofC, Benn, or UKAD. I think they will make a statement together at some point.
Does this affect his next fight? Nothing has been determined. When the time is right – there will be a statement. It's been almost two years, so it's very disheartening, but we are where we are," Hearn said.
Since April 2022, Connor Benn has not fought in the UK. Last September, Connor boxed against Rodolfo Orozco (33-4-3, 25 KOs), and in February 2024 against Peter Dobson (16-1, 9 KOs), winning both matches by unanimous decision. Both fights took place in the USA.
